I say not only kids in Singapore, but all the other affluent countries as well who take their economic advantage for granted.

IT SADDENED me when I read about the trials and tribulations of Indonesian orphans ("Coffee with ... the man with 42 kids", June 9).
But at the same time, I was pleasantly warmed by the selfless acts of Indonesian expatriate airline pilot Budi Soehardi, who, with his wife Peggy, set up Roslin Orphanage in West Timor.
I salute Mr Soehardi for his commitment and dedication to helping these underprivileged children despite having to support his own three children.
What touched me most was that in spite of the looming threat of losing his job due to the economic slowdown, the orphanage remains his foremost priority.
This timely story should serve as a wake-up call to Singaporean children who take many things for granted: A good education, clothing, three meals a day, a roof over one's head ... the list goes on.
Here's wishing Mr Soehardi and the children at Roslin Orphanage a happy future.
